About Luke

I'll start off by saying that it was a dream come true to get a job in my home market. Growing up in West Michigan it has been a goal of mine since I started in this business to return home and serve the community that helped shape me.
Currently, I'm a sports reporter for WWMT in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Since August 2017, I have been able to share the stories of student-athletes all over The Mitten. From the local high school athletes working towards the goal of a state championship and in some cases a college scholarship to covering the first two rounds of the Michigan Wolverines' March Madness run.
Over the past year, I have gained valuable experience as a reporter. I have learned under a pair of veteran sports minds that have helped me improve not only in-front of the camera, but behind it as well.
Prior to my time in West Michigan, I spent two years at KALB in Alexandria, Louisiana. For the first six months I was a weekend sports anchor and reporter, but when the opportunity arose I was promoted to sports director.
During my two years in the Bayou State, I had the opportunity to cover some once-in-a-lifetime events including: LSU's College World Series Finals appearance, LSU-Alexandria's run to the NAIA Men's Basketball Fab Four in Kansas City, Missouri and LSUA's top four finish in the NAIA College Softball World Series in Clermont, Florida.
In addition to covering the big events, I brought viewers in CenLa the excitement of one of college football's biggest rivalries when Alabama visited LSU in Death Valley on a Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
I changed the focus of sports coverage in Alexandria by highlighting the most important part of local sports. Telling the stories of high school athletes that are the future both on the playing fields and in society. My favorite part of telling these stories is going beyond the playing surface and putting the spotlight on the lives of student-athletes and what they do in the community.
I have covered the big names and those who are trying to make their name in the sports world and no matter who it is I will tell their story to the best of my ability and keep the viewers tuning back in.
